AmeriMed Infusion Pharmacy

We are seeking a highly skilled Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Lexington, KY. As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of medications for our patients.

About the Role

The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to measure and compound medications, maintain patient records, and perform other duties as deemed acceptable by the State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and compound medications under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Assist with the orientation and training of pharmacy personnel
  • Work with insurance providers and medical providers to ensure accurate billing and follow-up
  • Participate in on-call rotation and be available to work flexible hours
  • Program and double-check IV pump settings for accuracy prior to delivery
  • Complete yearly ACHC assessments of compounding standards successfully
  • Prepare prescriptions for filling, including checking compounding records, gathering pharmaceuticals, and staging products for the pharmacist to check
  • Clean and calibrate compounding equipment per manufacturer's guidelines and policy and procedures
  • Communicate with patients about supply and delivery of medications
  • Coordinate continuation or discontinuation of services, process refill prescriptions, and document in patient records
  • Utilize administrative and clinical knowledge to assist pharmacists in providing medication and other healthcare products to patients

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • State pharmacy technician licensure in the state employed
  • Obtain national certification within 12 months of employment
  • Compounding pharmacy technician experience, preferably with sterile IV compounding
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent math skills
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Working knowledge of medical technology
