This position is part of a Department Promotional examination and is accessible to qualified personnel within the Library Department who hold permanent status in the classified service and have achieved an overall standard or better on their most recent employee performance evaluation.


Work Schedule:
Library branches may operate on various days and hours throughout the week, including evenings and weekends.

EXAMINATION OVERVIEW:

Written Examination:
will be conducted to evaluate candidates' knowledge of library organization, policies, customer service principles, and contemporary technologies in the digital media sector, among other pertinent topics. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% on each segment of the examination process.

The Human Resources Division may conduct a review of application materials if there are not enough candidates to justify a written examination.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
A valid Class C California Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
Depending on the assignment, specialized California Driver's Licenses may be necessary.

Ensure that all relevant materials are included with your application.

If you cannot attach application materials, please submit a copy to the Human Resources Division.

Upon receiving a job offer, candidates may need to undergo post-offer medical and drug screening tests at the County's expense.

This examination serves as a promotional opportunity for eligible employees of the Kern County Library Department. It will establish a list of qualified candidates for immediate appointments, with additional permanent and temporary appointments made as necessary.

Successful candidates will remain on the eligibility list for a period of twelve months, unless otherwise specified by the Civil Service Commission.
