Position Overview:

Allina Health is a not-for-profit organization operating a network of clinics and hospitals across a vibrant region. We are seeking a dedicated Stroke Neurohospitalist to enhance our comprehensive Neuroscience Institute.

Key Position Details:

Our primary location for this role will be at a leading hospital recognized nationally for excellence in Neurology/Neurosurgery. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team of skilled professionals, including Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, providing consultative services in partnership with Intensivists/Criticalists.

This position entails a full-time commitment with a 1.0 FTE, translating to 182 shifts annually, following a structured 7 on/7 off work schedule.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care:
    • Deliver care for neurological emergencies and critical care neurology.
    • Utilize vascular neurology expertise to manage stroke patients effectively.
    • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' medical histories and synthesize relevant health data.
    • Make informed decisions regarding patient care based on comprehensive assessments.
    • Provide education and consultation to patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
    • Collaborate with patients to enhance their health outcomes.
    • Maintain a culturally sensitive approach to patient care.
    • Document patient interactions in electronic format in compliance with professional standards.
    • Engage in multidisciplinary team efforts for effective case management.
    • May provide care in various clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments.
    • Participate in on-call rotations as required.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Employ quality improvement methodologies to enhance patient care delivery and outcomes.
    • Engage in peer review and quality assurance initiatives.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited Residency training program in Neurology.
  • Stroke Fellowship preferred; relevant Stroke Program experience is acceptable.
  • Telemedicine experience is advantageous.
  • Licensure as a Physician in Minnesota and Wisconsin required.
  • ACLS/BLS certification required upon hire.
  • PALS certification may be required depending on the business unit.
  • Possession of a Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.

Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently.
