Stroke Care Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Stroke Care Specialist to join our dynamic team at the University of Minnesota Physicians. As a Stroke Care Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing expert stroke care to patients throughout the state, utilizing telemedicine to deliver high-quality care remotely.

Responsibilities:
  • Practice in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, with opportunities for independent practice in conjunction with fellowship-trained physician specialist collaborators.
  • Evaluate and treat stroke patients, with a focus on emergent stroke interventions, diagnostic stroke evaluation, and secondary stroke prevention.
  • Utilize telestroke to perform clinical care at remote partnering hospitals.
  • Collaborate with the stroke team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • Eligible or certified through NCCPA, ANCC, or AANP.
  • Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP's).
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams, including those located at remote hospitals.
  • Proficiency with using electronic medical records and chart documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous stroke care experience or neurology training is preferred, however, excellent candidates who are enthusiastic about neurology and stroke are encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in teaching and education opportunities.
  • Interest in local research, including the opportunity to present one's findings at local and national conferences.
