UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Staff Physician specializing in Radiology for the Department of Radiology at the University Of New Mexico School of Medicine. This role is a PRN on-call position based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Staff Physician will deliver and oversee direct healthcare services for a designated patient demographic.
The ideal candidate will provide primary diagnostic and consultative services in radiology for examinations conducted at various facilities. Responsibilities include ensuring timely and precise interpretation of radiological images. As a teaching institution, the role also involves mentoring and instructing residents, fellows, and medical students, along with providing consultation services and engaging in other clinical activities aligned with the individual's qualifications and credentials.
This recruitment is driven by an expansion across multiple subspecialties.
Essential Qualifications for the Staff Physician - Radiologist:
Medical degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, which may encompass residency in a related medical specialty. Must possess State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in the specified medical specialty. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required upon selection for hire.
- MD or equivalent qualification
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
- American Board of Radiology (ABR) board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology by the start date.
- State of New Mexico Medical License (or eligibility) by the start date.
Key Responsibilities of the Staff Physician - Radiologist:
- Delivers and oversees direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient demographic.
- Prescribes medications and treatment plans as deemed appropriate based on assessed medical conditions.
- Refers patients to specialists and relevant healthcare components as necessary.
- Trains and supervises medical students and residents involved in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
- May oversee the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research initiative.
- Coordinates patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
- Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, as well as continuous quality improvement and safety standards.
- Participates in health promotion, education, and prevention programs as appropriate to the position.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
