Position Summary

The Department is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Deputy Attorney General within the Affirmative Litigation Unit, specifically focusing on the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board.

This position encompasses two primary responsibilities: serving as the chief legal advisor to the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board and managing administrative prosecutions related to professional conduct regulations.

Key Responsibilities

In the capacity of general counsel for the UIAB, the Deputy Attorney General will be tasked with reviewing appeals for compliance, offering legal guidance during hearings, drafting formal decisions, and representing the Board in appellate matters.

This role demands a proactive approach to handling a substantial caseload, which includes attending hearings, preparing legal opinions, conducting thorough legal research, and addressing various legal issues pertinent to the UIAB.

Additionally, the Deputy Attorney General will represent the State in administrative hearings concerning disciplinary actions against licensed professionals.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical skills, the ability to navigate complex legal challenges independently, and a talent for providing sound legal advice based on applicable laws and regulations.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate the capability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, board members, and agency personnel.

Membership in the Delaware Bar or eligibility to practice law in accordance with Delaware Supreme Court regulations is required.
