About the Team:

The Robotics Software Engineering Team at Relativity Space is engaged in the development of an innovative cooperative robotic platform that integrates with the company's extensive additive manufacturing systems. This initiative aims to foster continuous innovation, focusing on performance, simplicity, simulation/testing, and reusability. The team is dedicated to creating cohesive interfaces across all equipment, facilitating seamless integration of custom robots and additive systems.

About the Role:

As a Lead Automation Systems Engineer at Relativity Space, you will take charge of the development, integration, and enhancement of automation systems for the company's cooperative robotics platform. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing robotic control systems, programming PLCs, and developing real-time solutions to improve operational efficiency and accuracy, ultimately advancing automation capabilities and delivering industrial automation solutions.

About You:
  • Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Robotics Control Systems: Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for robotic applications.
  • Expertise in PLC Programming: Solid background in programming and configuring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for industrial automation.
  • Experience with Automation Protocols: Familiarity with protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, and others used in industrial automation.
  • Understanding of Real-time Systems: Proficiency in real-time operating systems (RTOS) and real-time computing principles for deterministic control.
  • Proficiency in Motion Control: Ability to develop advanced motion control algorithms for precise robotic movement and positioning.
  • Strong Problem-solving Skills: Capability to troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues for enhanced reliability and performance.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: Effective communication of technical concepts and collaboration within cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Knowledge of Safety Standards: Understanding safety regulations in industrial automation settings to ensure safe operation of automated systems.
  • Experience with Robotics Integration: Demonstrated experience in integrating robotic systems into industrial environments, including sensor integration and data processing.
