Job Title: Professor of Applied Mathematics

We are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Applied Mathematics to join our faculty at the University of Alabama. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department's strengths in applied mathematics by combining mathematical modeling, computational, and theoretical approaches with machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.

About the Position

This is a tenure-track position at the Associate/Full Professor level. The appointment will begin on August 16, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high-quality, externally funded research program, as well as teach and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in applied mathematics, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and related fields.
  • Mentor students and advise on research projects.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research program, with a focus on securing external funding.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Postdoctoral experience.
  • Scholarly publications.
  • Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
