Job Summary:
As a Heavy Civil Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for operating a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket. Your duties will include excavating ditches, structures, and mass excavations, laying pipe and precast concrete structures, loading trucks, and placing rock riprap. You may also be equipped with various hydraulic attachments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Signal truck drivers to position trucks for loading and unloading materials.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, and falling objects.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed.
Requirements:
- Less than a High School Diploma and related construction experience.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoors, exposed to changing weather conditions.
Physical Activity Level:
- Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
Manual Dexterity:
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
