Job Summary

This is a non-union position that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of directly relevant training and experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to equipment malfunctions, physical damage, and/or fire, vandalism, and/or threats to safeguard life and property.

They will also be responsible for implementing lock out/tag out procedures, completing reports accurately and completely, and obtaining training as required to maintain qualifications.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of operations used in maintenance and repair of pipelines and operational equipment, as well as strong technical and analytical skills.

They will also be able to work independently with little to no direction and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities
  1. Respond to equipment malfunctions, physical damage, and/or fire, vandalism, and/or threats to safeguard life and property.
  2. Implement lock out/tag out procedures to ensure personnel safety.
  3. Complete reports accurately and completely and have a working knowledge of applicable local filing systems.
  4. Obtain training as required to maintain qualifications.
  5. Apply proper procedures for ordering, receiving, and transferring materials and performing physical inventory.
  6. Work with Area and Region personnel to make recommendations on levels of spare parts for equipment needed to perform normal maintenance and minimize downtime.
  7. Assist in planning work and contributing budget-related information as required, consistent with the annual budgeting process.
  8. Review and interpret drawings, sketches, and as-builts.
  9. Consistently work in a safe, responsible manner and actively participate in safely related programs.
  10. Actively participate as a work group team member and maintain a cooperative work relationship with fellow employees.
  11. Consistently project a professional Company image when interacting with non-Company personnel.
  12. Perform work in compliance with Company policies/procedures as well as external regulatory bodies, such as Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
  13. Serve as relief station operator to cover for absences, vacations, and other business needs.
  14. Perform all duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of directly relevant training and experience.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, shift, be on call and standby, and travel overnight as required.
  • Can perform tasks requiring heavy physical exertion in sometimes extreme weather conditions.
  • Currently resides or is willing to relocate within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.
Desired Qualifications
  • Possesses the desire to learn and advance as a Pipeline Technician.
  • Working knowledge of operations used in maintenance and repair of pipelines and operational equipment.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through training, formal education, and/or experience.
  • Able to work independently with little to no direction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work and contribute to a team environment where inclusiveness, integrity, honesty, and openness are valued.
  • Proven ability to drive and perform job duties safely.
  • Innovative problem solver without compromising SOPs.
  • Willing to assume responsibility and take initiative to resolve issues.
Physical Requirements

Include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
