Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Repairman to join our team at the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. As a Maintenance Repairman, you will be responsible for providing grounds keeping and building maintenance, custodial, and repair services at the Ephrata Cloister, a National Historic Landmark and four-time American Alliance of Museums Accredited Museum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Facility Operations Supervisor in the management and preservation of 28 acres, 12 historic buildings, 4 non-historic buildings, and 2 cemeteries.
  • Perform landscaping, custodial care of public spaces, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing tasks daily.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair maintenance equipment, including seasonal grounds equipment like mowers, string trimmers, snowplow, and snow removal equipment.
  • Complete routine building repairs involving but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
  • Provide custodial support to maintain a clean and safe environment for visitors and staff.
  • Assist with special program/event set-up and take-down and may have an opportunity to participate in the program.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of experience maintaining historic buildings.
  • One or more years of experience managing a multifaceted HVAC and Fire and Security system that utilizes automated building control systems.
  • One or more years of experience working with volunteers.
