Key Responsibilities- Serve as a policy analyst in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism.
- Liaise with regional and functional bureaus within the Department of State and the interagency to communicate effectively and advance policy.
- Advise the Office Director and Deputy Director on special projects in areas of responsibility.
- Support bilateral and multilateral diplomatic engagements involving the Secretary of State and other Department and interagency principals.
- Participate in interagency meetings and prepare leadership for various meetings, speeches, and presentations.
- Conduct outreach to manage relationships with international organizations and NGOs.
- Research, prepare, and review policy papers and briefing checklists on key topics.
- Support the organization and conduct of conferences and meetings.
- Support other projects as directed, including high-level USG visits.
- Bachelor's degree and 2 plus years of experience preferred, with preferred areas of study including international studies, political science, national security, foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism.
- State Department policy experience preferred, but policy experience for another federal agency in areas of foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism could qualify.
- Able to be available for up to 20% overseas travel.
- Able to brief and work effectively with high-ranking officials of the State Department, other government agencies, and foreign governments.
- Have an understanding or ability to learn the paper process and other procedures at the State Department.
- Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- The contractor must be able to learn and retain the policies and viewpoints of the assigned office as they relate to current foreign policy situations and Bureau program activities.
- Must understand interagency coordination and how to work across multiple organizations.
- Must have logistics experience related to convening or organizing meetings or conferences.
- TS/SCI Clearance required.
This job operates in a professional office environment with a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations, and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
