Job Title:

Patient Care Specialist

The Bristol Regional Medical Center is seeking a qualified Patient Care Specialist to join our team. As a vital member of our healthcare staff, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care and supportive services to our nursing unit and health care provider team under registered nurse supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide bedside patient/resident care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, and grooming.
  • Perform nursing assistant procedures, stock supplies, maintain equipment, and perform routine housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Transport patients/residents as necessary and provide basic computer skills for documentation of care and procedures performed.
  • Assist or perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for patients/residents, including changing bed linen and assisting with transferring residents from bed to chair, chair to bed, and turning and repositioning of the patient/resident while in bed.
  • Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdown to prevent decubitus ulcers.
  • Report accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or skin tears to nurse supervisor/charge nurse.
  • Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature, and inform the RN/nurse supervisor/charge nurse if not within normal limits for the patient/resident.
  • Perform blood glucose monitoring if required per department expectations.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate (GED or HISET) or three years of experience in a hospital/medical setting.
  • EMR or EMT training/certification/licensure may also be considered.
  • AHA BLS certification is required for any direct patient care provider.

Work Requirements:

  • Shift: Day
  • No on-call shifts
  • Rotating weekends
  • No travel required

We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $ $32,000 - $40,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
