This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to develop and implement facility quality systems to meet DFA, regulatory, and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will work directly with team members, management, and hourly employees to develop and maintain facility procedures, work instructions, and forms.

This position is responsible for assisting in the development and coordination of the facilities Operational Risk Management, Change Management program, and Quality System documentation.

The successful candidate will provide GMP, Food Safety, and HACCP training to all plant employees and ensure the quality systems documentation is audit and inspection ready.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance with implementation and enforcement of corporate quality policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the facility HACCP program.
  • Ensure the facilities product recall program is effective and in compliance with DFA, FDA, and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for quality assurance coordination and maintenance within the SAP inventory systems.
  • Provide support with new product startup by implementing customer and R&D specifications and documentation.
  • Responsible for Document Control system and plant job binder reviews.
  • Participate in quarterly quality systems audit and monthly facility GMP and Food Safety audits.
  • Participate in Food Defense and Crisis Management Teams.
  • Provide support as needed to perform LACF record review, master batch distribution, and finished product releases.
  • Perform project work as defined by the QA Manager.
  • Collect records for Thermal Process Deviation.
  • Compile, review, and file LACF records.
  • Entry of product hold information in the DFA quality system program.
  • Work with multiple departments to achieve documentation and training requirements.
  • Assist in development of new material for training on plant job functions.
  • Assist in plant audits of food safety systems such as but not limited to: SQF-HACCP-GMP.
  • Must follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all Corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements along with other duties as assigned.

Licensing and Certification:

  • Holding a certification from a certified FDA Better Process School would be a plus.
  • If at time of hire, capable/able to obtain such FDA Better Processing School Certification.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • College Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in a food manufacturing environment working with QA/Quality systems.

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact well with people at multiple levels of the organization and/or with external customers in business and technical fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and functions.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to organize, prioritize, as well as be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be confident and communicate well to present concepts and ideas to Operations team members.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must have advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
