Job Summary

The Texas A&M University System is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our veterinary medical park, you will assist in the treatment of animals under the supervision of a professional staff member or Veterinary Technician II or higher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care: Assist in administering medications, maintaining medical records, collecting and submitting clinical pathology samples, and capturing fees for materials and services.
  • Maintenance of Animal Care Facilities: Provide clinical support to faculty veterinarians, screen newly arrived animals, observe animals for disease and symptoms, and perform sanitation of barns and other materials.
  • Anesthesia Duties: Assist in placing IV catheters, intubating animals, setting up anesthesia, and monitoring equipment.
  • Bio-Safety: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and functionally organized Bioscience Facility.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Basic computer skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include 2 years of experience handling large animals in a veterinary setting, certification as a veterinary assistant, and knowledge of veterinary equipment used within a veterinary teaching hospital.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
