As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patient well-being while collaborating with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and both front office and clinical staff. This position is primarily based in one of our urgent care centers.
Our teams employ a collaborative approach to foster connections across our centers and within the community. The main location for this role is in Charlottesville, VA, with the possibility of working at other nearby sites as needed.
Location: Pantops Center Charlottesville, VA
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.) per week
Specialty: MedExpress Urgent Care
Hours may include rotating weekends and holidays, varying with patient volume and business needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical intake with patients, including taking and documenting vital signs and medical history.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, specimen collection, and exam preparation as necessary.
- Manage patient referrals and follow-up calls on a daily basis.
- Maintain clinical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage of biohazard materials.
- Sanitize exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to uphold infection control standards.

Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a medical assistant training program and/or 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant or EMT in an urgent care, physician, or emergency room setting, or currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
- Must fulfill all other state requirements by law, including any applicable licenses.
- Active CPR/BLS certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with clinical intake, patient data collection, laboratory specimen collection, performing EKG testing, applying orthopedic devices, basic wound care, and/or employer health services.
