Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Lodi Unified School District. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting, to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Operate floor maintenance machines, vacuum cleaners, and other custodial equipment to ensure efficient and effective cleaning
  • Check and replace supplies and equipment as needed to maintain a well-stocked and functional facility
  • Lock and unlock buildings, gates, windows, and facilities as required to ensure security and access
  • Perform routine groundskeeping duties, including sweeping sidewalks and curbs, and picking up trash and debris
  • Assist in moving furniture and equipment during track changes and special events
  • Check assigned areas to prevent vandalism and theft, and report any incidents to the appropriate personnel
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Responsible experience in custodial and general maintenance work
  • Ability to learn cleaning methods and proper care of equipment
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor
  • Ability to read and understand cleaning and chemical labels
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Working Conditions

This position requires working in an indoor and outdoor environment, with exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes from paints and solvents, and working at heights. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
