Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Scrub Technician to join our team at Ramin Tayami MD Inc. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for ensuring the operating room is properly prepared for daily schedules, including preparation of supplies, sterilization of equipment, and cleaning of the operating room.

Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Ensure the operating room is properly prepared for each surgical case, including preparation of supplies, sterilization of equipment, and cleaning of the operating room.
  • Scrubbing and Gowning: Scrub hands and arms, dry and don sterile gown and gloves according to AORN standards.
  • Instrument Setup: Set up sterile operating field with instruments and supplies necessary for each procedure, arranging instruments, sutures, drapes, and supplies per AORN standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in implementation of quality assurance program and maintain a safe environment for treating surgical patients, including safeguards to protect patients from cross-infection.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth execution of surgical procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain equipment manual and update in an ongoing manner, and provide in-service to staff on sterile technique, equipment, and procedures in the operating room.
  • Supply Management: Maintain supplies and equipment in a space-efficient manner, and order materials as needed to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Continuous Learning: Attend update and continuing education courses relevant to specialty area, and maintain current basic CPR card.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two (2) years.
  • Skills: Ability to commit to 3-4 days/week, with surgeries scheduled every Tuesday-Thursday, and 1-2 Fridays/month.
  • Special Requirements: Experienced in supporting Ophthalmology, with a strong understanding of sterile technique and equipment maintenance.
