Boiler Room Technician Job Description
At United Airlines, we're on a path towards becoming the best airline in the history of aviation. As a Boiler Room Technician, you'll play a vital role in providing quality service to our internal customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and inspect automatic gas fired high pressure steam or high temperature hot water boilers.
- Adjust, maintain, and test boiler and mechanical, electrical or pneumatic control instruments and safety devices.
- Test boiler water, cooling tower and water from other systems, and take any vital corrective action, such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits.
- Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.
- Monitor and inspect equipment, energy management computer, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices, and meters to detect leaks or malfunctions, and to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma/GED or education equivalent.
- Twelve months experience required as a Boiler operator or stationary engineer.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid US driver's license (revoked, suspended or expired are not considered valid).
- Must pass 10-year background check.
- Must be willing to take a pre-placement physical abilities' test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen.
