The Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
This position involves interviewing patients, taking vital signs (such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and accurately documenting information in patient records.
The specialist may also mentor new clinical staff.Responsibilities may include drawing and collecting blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
The role requires effective coordination of patient flow, appointment scheduling, and managing referrals. Additionally, the specialist may triage incoming calls, process non-narcotic prescription requests as directed by the provider, and maintain frequent communication with patients and their families. This position operates under the close guidance of the healthcare provider and clinic management.Essential Qualifications:
Completion of a medical assistant training program or a minimum of one year of experience in a clinical environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook and electronic health records, is essential. BLS Certification is mandatory.
