Job Overview

Rittal LLC is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Service Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our technical support team, you will provide daily support to our customers and Rittal Outside Sales Engineers, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Rittal Automation Systems (RAS) machines and supplemental products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to customers and Rittal Outside Sales Engineers via phone or on-site.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to RAS machines and supplemental products.
  • Support the implementation, installation, and repairing of RAS machines.
  • Train customers on the operation of RAS machines and software interfaces.
  • Assist with setup and demonstration of RAS machines during trade shows and customer events.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of equipment and processes by providing feedback to improve reliability and technology.
  • Coordinate with other sub-contractors as needed during installation and repairs.
  • Travel extensively to customer locations in North America and Germany, up to 75%.
  • Communicate regularly with Rittal Headquarters and Kiesling in Germany regarding products, quality, and other issues related to RAS.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent training.
  • Five plus years of work experience in Controls Engineering or CNC Machines with plant floor experience.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and vacuum systems, electricity (AC/DC), step up/step down transformers, single and three-phase power up to 460 volts, linear actuator motors.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/AutoCAD drawing for importing customer documentation into the RAS software.
  • Ability to visually communicate concepts, read drawings, and be very detailed.
  • Working knowledge of PLC logic and process troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of drilling, tapping, and milling of metal parts and the ability to use measurement instruments.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and ANSI codes.
  • Working knowledge of NC programming language.
  • Conversational and technical knowledge of the German language is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft products, including working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to ask for and follow supervisor's instructions.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a multi-functional team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making skills, ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be available to work daily/weekly overtime as needed.
