Talen Energy is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Nuclear Security Specialist Level I within the Security division. This position is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of our facilities.
About Us:
Talen Energy operates one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the United States, providing approximately 2700 MW of electricity to the regional grid. Our facility is recognized for its commitment to excellence and safety in energy production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prevent unauthorized access to Protected/Vital areas and deter radiological threats using appropriate force.
- Control access and visitor verification by issuing proper credentials and TLDs.
- Conduct armed searches of individuals and vehicles for prohibited items as per regulatory standards.
- Perform armed patrols to monitor assigned areas, respond to alarms, and report incidents to the Security Control Center.
- Escort non-licensee personnel and emergency vehicles while ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Respond to security threats to mitigate adversarial actions against our facilities.
- Manage weapons inventory and ensure safe handling during issuance and return.
- Facilitate emergency access for first responders and emergency vehicles.
- Provide first aid and respond to fire emergencies as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in approximately 80 security-related tasks.
- Completion of CPR, first aid, and annual training requirements.
- Compliance with all federal regulations regarding medical and psychological certifications.
- Annual weapons certifications and adherence to physical fitness standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement is preferred.
