Position Overview:
- The primary focus of this role is to achieve or surpass the company's safety, quality, and cost objectives.
- Accountable for coordinating and executing all safety initiatives within the department to ensure a workplace free from injuries.
- Responsible for effective training, motivation, and oversight of the department, which includes 1 Process Foreman, 2 Hourly Production Foremen, 6 hourly supervisors, and approximately 33 production staff.
- Direct the operations of Stock Mix-up and #3 Wetfelt Board Line Departments, emphasizing safety, quality, efficiency, cleanliness, and training. Collaborate with other plant functions regarding personnel, equipment, materials, inventory levels, production processes, and capital enhancements to ensure customer demand is met.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives through CI/Lean, CIC, and Tech Services, acting as the process owner and driving operational enhancements utilizing the Reliability Performance Model to meet efficiency targets.
- Make recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, transfers, rate changes, layoffs, and disciplinary actions within the department while ensuring consistent application of company policies.
- Enhance employee engagement by implementing strategic communication and employee relations initiatives throughout the department.
- Collaborate with reliability and engineering teams to develop plans for non-routine maintenance and capital improvements, implementing cost reduction and efficiency strategies.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, along with prior experience in a managerial role.
- Proven leadership, communication (both verbal and written), decision-making, and employee relations skills in a diverse workforce environment are essential. The ability to connect with individuals at all organizational levels and work collaboratively towards shared objectives is crucial.
- Demonstrated operational excellence with strong organizational skills and the capability to prioritize tasks effectively while implementing Best-In-Class practices.
- A business-minded leader focused on results, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service. A self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general or technical procedures or regulations.
- Skilled in coaching employees to achieve optimal performance.
- Experience in operating within a planned budget and managing costs to meet established goals.
Compensation may vary based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
