Senior Financial Reporting Specialist
POSITION OVERVIEW
BBSI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Reporting Specialist to enhance our accounting team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the public sector, demonstrating a meticulous approach to financial analysis and reporting. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role involves managing general ledger reconciliations, overseeing payroll processes, and providing financial guidance to our member organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities are indicative of the work performed in this role and are not exhaustive. The omission of specific duties does not preclude them from the position.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive narratives for each general ledger account.
- Allocate expenses accurately to the corresponding general ledger accounts.
- Perform monthly reconciliations between our enterprise and accounting systems.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring all supporting documentation is attached.
- Match current and historical invoices with the appropriate capital assets and general ledger entries.
- Assist in the implementation and updates of capital asset accounting software, ensuring seamless communication between systems.
- Manage payroll processing for the organization and its member entities.
- Collaborate with payroll vendors to guarantee timely and accurate submission of required federal and state reports.
- Oversee benefits premium payments to vendors and reconcile these with the general ledger.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries.
- Provide financial oversight and advisory services to member organizations.
- Communicate financial concepts clearly to member organizations, ensuring understanding.
- Deliver exceptional financial customer service to our member communities.
- Advise on financial matters that may affect member organizations.
- Support the preparation of the annual budget.
- Assist in the completion of the annual audit process.
- Present proposed budgets at board meetings and respond to budget-related inquiries.
- Prepare various studies, reports, and information for decision-making purposes.
- Establish and uphold internal control procedures while conducting periodic internal audits.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), particularly in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
- Effective budgeting principles, methods, and techniques.
- Accounting principles related to Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements.
- Functions of an accounting department.
- Effective communication strategies and public relations.
- Coordination of independent audit activities from the client perspective.
- Relevant state and federal regulations and policies.
- Fiscal procedures applicable to the organization.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES TO:
- Conduct thorough analyses of complex journal entries and monthly reconciliations.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and documentation.
- Deliver high-quality customer service.
- Perform financial analysis and interpretation effectively.
- Utilize financial database programs proficiently.
- Analyze and recommend improvements in procedures and financial processes.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Interact positively with individuals at various organizational levels.
- Plan, organize, and execute tasks efficiently, even under pressure.
- Work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, along with three (3) years of relevant experience. Education cannot substitute for the required experience.
- CPA certification is preferred.

SCHEDULE: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
PAY: Competitive salary based on experience.
