Position Overview: The University of Idaho College of Law is seeking to appoint an Instructor for its Family Justice Clinic. This role is pivotal in delivering pro bono legal assistance to individuals affected by domestic violence. The clinic collaborates closely with the Family Advocacy Center and Education Services, Inc. (d/b/a Faces of Hope), which offers a secure and supportive environment for survivors. The faculty member will engage in direct legal representation, oversee law students in client interactions, and fulfill all necessary grant reporting obligations. Additionally, the instructor will lead the educational components associated with the clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a manageable course load while overseeing clinic operations.
- Participate in community service and outreach initiatives on behalf of the clinic and the College of Law.
Institutional Background: Established in 1889, the University of Idaho serves as the state's land grant university and is recognized as a comprehensive research institution. The College of Law, with a focus on quality education, has been acknowledged as one of the Best Value Law Schools. Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited institution or equivalent.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching or relevant experience, with a minimum of five years in practice.
- Must be a member of a bar in good standing and eligible for admission to the Idaho State Bar within one year of hire.
- Experience in fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Community service experience.
- Background in family law.
- Experience working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Prior clinical teaching experience.
