Vascular Imaging Specialist

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of a radiologist, the Vascular Imaging Specialist employs diagnostic ultrasound technology to conduct general and vascular assessments, generating ultrasound images for diagnostic evaluation and interventional procedures.

Demonstrates sound judgment in determining necessary measurements for the area under examination and manages all computer processing for ultrasound assessments; provides patient care and education before, during, and after imaging procedures.

May serve as a mentor for junior vascular imaging specialists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct vascular ultrasound procedures, including:
    • Carotid Duplex Ultrasounds
    • Pulse Volume Recordings
    • Peripheral Vascular Arterial Studies
    • Peripheral Vascular Venous Studies
  • Perform ultrasonic diagnostic echocardiograms following established protocols as directed by the laboratory.
  • Guide patients through procedures to ensure cooperation and optimal test outcomes.
  • Adhere to prescribed safety standards while operating equipment.
  • Utilize and maximize all software applications, including PACS and echocardiographic reporting systems.
  • Maintain ultrasound and laboratory equipment, ensuring examination rooms are in proper working order.
  • Execute additional related technologist duties as assigned by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance/control tasks.

Responsible for fulfilling continuing education requirements necessary for licensure and job position.

Other duties as assigned.

Vaccination Requirement:
Covid Vaccination is mandatory for employment at Jefferson for employees working in clinical settings.

Educational Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited RDMS program or possession of a current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) is preferred.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a cardiac sonographer, with at least one (1) year of vascular experience.
