Job Overview

This position requires a highly motivated and experienced professional who can create a safe and healthy environment for children aged birth to 3 years old. You will be responsible for planning and implementing curriculum through normal caregiving routines, providing family support to parents of the children, and fostering positive discipline and communication in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, including maintaining inventory and upkeep of center and classroom supplies, reporting needed repairs and maintenance, and providing a safe and developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environment.
  • Plan and provide curriculum through normal caregiving routines, including establishing a learning environment that builds and enhances each child's self-esteem and positive self-concept, providing activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration, and problem-solving, preparing monthly, weekly, and daily activity plans, and implementing positive guidance practices.
  • Provide family support to parents of the children, including planning, promoting, and implementing family involvement, maintaining open, friendly, and cooperative verbal and written communication with each child's family, providing parents with information, resources, and referrals as needed, and meeting regularly with Family Advocates to assure Child and Family information is current and service role and responsibilities are understood.
  • Foster positive discipline and communication in the classroom, including guiding and sustaining positive interactions between children and adults, maintaining an atmosphere that encourages open communication with children and adults, and providing opportunities and support for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelings.
  • Create and maintain a professional team environment, including submitting attendance records and required paperwork in a timely manner, supervising and delegating duties to classroom staff, initiating training, and encouraging teamwork among adults in the room and center, evaluating teaching assistants' performance, participating in required training, and sharing information with other staff as requested.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development or Early Childhood Education (preferred) or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development with a Professional Development Plan (required). Additionally, you should have at least 3 years of experience in teaching birth to 3 years old in an Early Childhood program, demonstrate professional and effective verbal and written communication, use good judgment, possess basic computer skills, and have supervision of adults, classroom planning, and management skills.

Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $38,000 - $44,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This compensation package includes medical, dental, FSA, 403(b) retirement, additional voluntary benefits, paid holidays, vacation/sick leave, education assistance program, employee assistance program, and longevity awards.
