Position Overview

The Clinical Physician Assistant plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive healthcare to patients through a collaborative and interdisciplinary methodology that encompasses all dimensions of well-being. This position entails a range of advanced clinical responsibilities associated with evaluating, managing, and preventing health issues within the designated public health nursing framework; conducting physical assessments; recognizing patients with both physical and psychological conditions; and administering prescribed medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhances physician efficiency by identifying immediate and long-term patient care challenges; providing relevant insights and recommendations; and executing physician directives.
  • Evaluates patient health by conducting interviews; performing physical assessments; and reviewing, updating, and analyzing medical histories.
  • Identifies abnormal health conditions by conducting or ordering diagnostic evaluations, including x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests; interpreting results accurately.
  • Records patient care activities by documenting in patient and departmental records.
  • Educates and advises patients by explaining treatment plans; promoting health and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensures continuity of care by developing and executing patient management strategies.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Safeguards patients and staff by following infection control protocols and policies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional standards by staying informed on current and emerging legislation; ensuring adherence to regulations; and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Enhances professional and technical expertise by participating in educational workshops; reviewing relevant literature; building professional networks; and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Contributes to the development of healthcare team members by providing educational resources and growth opportunities.
  • Supports team objectives by achieving related outcomes as required.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in gastroenterology preferred.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the state of California.
