Position Overview:

The Vehicle Line Planning division is dedicated to maximizing product value through the formulation of innovative product and business strategies tailored for each carline. The Senior Program Manager, Electric Vehicle Strategy, will spearhead the strategic initiatives for Mazda's electric vehicles (EVs). The launch of Mazda's inaugural high-volume EV program is crucial in redefining the driving experience and transforming the business model for both Mazda and its EV offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

EV Program and Business Strategy Development - 40%

  • Direct the creation of a novel market equation (ME) strategy for the EV business model to enhance the customer experience and business framework.
  • Contribute to various facets of EV business strategy formulation, including compliance, portfolio architecture, production strategy, product innovation, manufacturing processes, and lifecycle management.
  • Formulate EV product strategies to pinpoint market demand and target demographics, implementing pricing frameworks that foster value and drive growth for customers, the brand, and the business.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams and the EV business model transformation task force to devise a go-to-market strategy that aligns vehicle content hierarchy, pricing frameworks, volume/mix objectives, and revenue forecasts to meet business and brand goals.
  • Establish competitive benchmarks to ensure Mazda's distinct competitiveness in both the traditional Internal Combustion Engine market and the emerging EV/Tech sector.
  • Work closely with Mazda Japan teams and third-party stakeholders to ensure alignment in program development with market positioning objectives.

Milestone Approvals - 20%

  • Engage with executives and stakeholders to garner support, secure resources, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Prepare product development milestone approval documentation and deliver effective communication strategies for presentation at executive management meetings.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including MNAO and MC/e-Mazda, to ensure efficient and accurate outputs that align with established plans and timelines.

Product Information Management - 20%

  • Prepare and disseminate information to support operations and dealerships in launching and selling vehicles.
  • Ensure that sales operations and marketing teams receive timely and precise product information, including vehicle order guides, pricing documents, and product specifications.
  • Act as an advisor on product, customer experience, and business aspects of the EV/tech segment.

Additional Responsibilities - 20%

  • Utilize diverse data sources, both internal and external, for analytical support, including market insights, competitor analysis, and customer feedback.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at refining processes and tools for advanced product development.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Strategic Planning, Project Management, or a related field; an MBA is advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in the automotive or OEM industry, including:

  • Three (3) years in strategic mid/long-term planning and execution.
  • Experience in automotive or consumer product planning is highly preferred.
  • Experience with EVs or related startups, focusing on designing viable business models with an innovative approach, is highly desired.
