Stanford Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Oncology Research Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical research team, you will be responsible for coordinating care for patients enrolled in cancer center clinical research trials.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with investigators and clinical research staff to ensure accurate conduct of clinical research protocols.
- Develop and implement operational workflows to ensure protocol adherence.
- Manage patient/family phone calls and communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Assess and document patient signs and symptoms, reactions to treatment, and changes in physical or psychological condition.
- Collaborate with Clinical Research Coordinators to ensure therapeutic clinical trial flags are placed on patients during active treatment.
- Plan, coordinate, and complete randomization, patient assessments, treatments, and follow-up care according to protocol treatment plans.
- Manage informed consent processes to ensure compliance with institutional, FDA, IRB, and clinical trial sponsor regulations.
- Oversee and participate in patient education regarding clinical trials and document education in medical records.
- Alert principal investigators to concerns raised by patients during informed consent processes.
- Assure timely scanning of signed consents into medical records and align with institutional and sponsor processes.
- Oversee and assist with internal or external study monitors visits, site visits, and study close-outs.
- Collaborate with scheduling staff to ensure future appointments are scheduled correctly and timely.
- Develop and provide education to nursing staff regarding clinical trials to ensure protocol treatment plans are followed.
- BSN or higher-level nursing degree required.
- MSN highly preferred.
- Masters in research or healthcare-related field preferred.
- 5+ years nursing experience required or 3+ years in an oncology research nurse role required.
- 2 or more years of experience in oncology.
- Experience in clinical research, research, ICU, other intensive care settings, pediatrics, case management, or nurse navigation preferred.
- Human subjects' protection and Good Clinical Practices training (can be completed after hire).
- Previous experience as an oncology research RN or clinical research in a related field.
- Masters in a research-related degree.
- ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification within 1 year.
- ACRP-certified Association of Clinical Research Professionals preferred.
