Job Overview:

Backcountry is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Retail Operations Supervisor to support our Store Manager in overseeing the daily functions of our retail establishment. The ideal candidate should possess a strong enthusiasm for outdoor activities and a solid background in retail management, complemented by exceptional communication and customer service abilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Store Manager in the daily management of retail operations, including stock oversight, visual presentation, and customer engagement.
  • Ensure the retail environment is consistently clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Support the Store Manager in the opening and closing procedures of the store.
  • Guarantee the security of the store and the proper functioning of alarm systems.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions, and conduct daily cash reconciliations.
  • Maintain precise inventory levels, perform regular stock audits, and communicate any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
  • Train and oversee retail staff to ensure comprehensive knowledge of processes and products, fostering outstanding customer service.
  • Safeguard store assets in accordance with loss prevention and safety protocols.
  • Build and nurture relationships with customers to enhance loyalty and encourage repeat business.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of marketing and promotional initiatives aimed at boosting sales.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • 2-3 years of experience in retail management.
  • A passion for outdoor pursuits and familiarity with outdoor equipment and apparel.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control, and visual merchandising.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
