Job Overview

The Orthopedic Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the entire patient care process related to joint replacement, starting from pre-operative assessments through to one year post-surgery. This role encompasses various stages of care including Pre-Admission Testing, Perioperative Services, inpatient care, and post-acute services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices for orthopedic patients.

Key Responsibilities:

The coordinator will play a vital role in the planning, development, and execution of program objectives and operational strategies. This includes managing the ongoing certification processes aimed at enhancing care quality for orthopedic patients.

Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physical Therapist (PT) is essential. Experience in Orthopedics is highly desirable.

Licensure:

Must possess a current RN or PT license valid in the state of Arkansas or a current State Compact Licensure.

BLS certification is required.

Educational Background:

Graduation from an accredited nursing or physical therapy program is mandatory, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree.

Essential Duties:

  • Facilitates collaboration among surgeons, leadership, and clinical staff while monitoring program progress and addressing areas needing improvement.
  • Manages all aspects of program administration, including generating reports, process enhancements, and ensuring patient and provider satisfaction.
  • Works closely with joint arthroplasty surgeons and anesthesiologists to cater to the specialized needs of patients.
  • Coordinates a multidisciplinary approach to ensure seamless care, including managing utilization, discharge planning, and securing necessary authorizations for external services.
  • Develops, assesses, and refines the effectiveness of the joint replacement care pathway as needed.
  • Oversees patient education initiatives, resource management, discharge planning, and continuity of care services.
  • Identifies cost-effective strategies and recommends optimal resource utilization while promoting patient self-management.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient experiences and monitors the quality of care provided.
  • Evaluates patient needs in conjunction with Joint Replacement Program Patient Navigators, engaging with primary care physicians and specialists as necessary.
  • In partnership with physicians, implements comprehensive care plans for joint replacement surgery patients across various providers and disciplines.
  • Acts as a liaison with external care providers, including home health services, rehabilitation facilities, and third-party administrators.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and educator, ensuring patients are well-informed about their conditions and empowered to participate in their care plans.
  • Participates in the collection and analysis of clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction metrics.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
