Job Overview

Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housing Coordinator to oversee our housing properties, coordinate leasing, inspections, and vacancies. This role will work closely with the treatment team and other stakeholders to provide supportive housing access and maintain a clean and orderly living environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inquiries about properties and vacancies, conduct tours, and meet occupancy, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct leasing interviews, inspections, process tenant vacancies, and coordinate preparation and inspection of unit vacancies for leasing.
  • Prepare leases, tenant agreements, and related subsidy documents, and partner with tenants to collect financial data for certification or recertification of housing programs.
  • Manage all aspects of tenant payments for rent or damage, following organizational financial practices, and prepare monthly reports for finance.
  • Review maintenance issues, report property maintenance issues to facilities staff, create work orders, respond to tenant input on maintenance needs and improvements, and assign damage charges to tenants as appropriate.
  • Complete all assigned documentation pertaining to tenant files, rentals, funding, or maintenance, and maintain inventory of property furnishings where applicable.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor on potential operational issues and areas for concern.
  • Actively work with community partners to meet the needs of vulnerable populations through education and promotion of ASAC housing services.
  • Enforce property rules and respond to after-hour tenant concerns.
  • Responsible for preparing all housing locations to ensure successful property inspections by stakeholders or funders, including tenant file compilation/compliance, tours, arranging maintenance, notification of tenants, and submitting requested documents.
  • Operate within the HMIS housing system to provide access and referrals for rapid and transitional housing opportunities.
Requirements

A High School Diploma and two years of experience in property management are required. Experience in human services, substance use disorder, or working with those who are homeless is preferred. Must be familiar with housing management, budgeting, housing agency regulations, and comply with Fair Housing laws.
