Position Overview

This role is part of the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers reimbursement for student loan payments. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within the designated timeframe.

Program Details:
Approval and award amounts (up to $200,000) along with eligibility periods (ranging from one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after a thorough review of the EDRP application.

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Compensation:

The Geriatrics Section operates under the Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service, where the Staff Geriatrician will provide care to elderly Veterans with complex geriatric medical conditions and dementia. This role involves interdisciplinary specialty-based consultation, evaluation, and management, as well as overseeing a panel of geriatric primary care patients.

Veterans will be managed by a core interdisciplinary team that includes a Geriatrician (MD, DO), Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, and Social Worker.

The incumbent will lead the Interdisciplinary Geriatrics team to fulfill the Service's mission and objectives.

Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

Applicants must also meet physical standards for the position and may be required to complete a probationary period. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship, a degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an accredited institution, and a current, unrestricted medical license.

Preferred Experience:
Expertise in geriatric medicine, dementia care, mental health management, rehabilitation, transitions of care, and healthcare systems navigation.
