We are seeking a skilled Nursing Attendant to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a Nursing Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in implementing the nursing process by performing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse.
- Maintain an orderly and safe patient care environment and unit.
- Orient patients to the hospital environment.
- Prepare bedside units to receive patients.
- Escort patients as necessary and remain with the patient until they have left the building.
- Assist patients by preparing utensils and food items.
- Change linen in accordance with policy and as necessary.
- Measure and record oral intake, urinary output, bowel elimination, gastric and other drainage onto I&O records.
- Empty drainage bags.
- Perform safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints, per policy and as directed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant program or minimum 6 months relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading, and writing abilities.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
