Key Responsibilities:
- Provides professional nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing invasive procedures.
- Conducts scrub functions, including the selection and management of instruments and supplies utilized during procedures.
- Undertakes circulating duties, which involve monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient conditions while overseeing nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
- Prepares surgical environments and ensures all instruments and equipment are ready for use.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Certification Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- If performing moderate/procedural sedation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within six months of hire.
Work Complexity:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
- Must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment and taking appropriate actions as necessary.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of one year of RN experience is required, or completion of the Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program.
Physical Demands:
- Requires full range of motion, including the ability to handle and lift patients, along with manual dexterity and coordination.
- Medium Work - Involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical demands exceed those for Light Work.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and has the ability to push, pull, and maneuver supply carts weighing more than 75 pounds periodically.

- Adheres to Standard Precautions and utilizes personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
