Job Summary

Direct Counsel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney to join our dynamic litigation practice in Los Angeles. As a mid-level associate, you will play a key role in managing complex litigation matters from inception to resolution, providing exceptional legal analysis, strategic thinking, and advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of complex litigation matters, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Case Strategy: Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with other team members to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Discovery and Depositions: Conduct depositions, witness interviews, and all aspects of discovery.
  • Court Appearances: Prepare and argue motions and briefs before state and federal courts.
  • Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to keep them informed of case developments and negotiate settlements when appropriate.
  • Professional Development: Stay current on legal developments, trends, and best practices in litigation.
  • Business Development: Assist with business development efforts, including client presentations and networking events.

Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar: Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing litigation law, with a focus on commercial litigation and non-IP patent matters preferred.
  • Litigation Skills: Strong litigation skills, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, depositions, and representing clients in court.
  • Court Appearances: Ability to appear in court on their own, pre-trial and trial experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork and Time Management: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Sound Judgment: Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make strategic decisions.
  • Commitment to Quality: Commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and achieving favorable outcomes for clients with minimal supervision.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with electronic discovery and litigation support tools preferred.

Compensation

$250,000.00 to $290,000.00 per year
