Responsibilities

As a Code Enforcement Officer I, you will be responsible for performing technical and public contact duties to ensure compliance with codes, rules, and regulations. This includes:

  • Conducting inspections and investigations to identify and address code violations
  • Providing education and outreach to the public on code requirements and regulations
  • Collaborating with other departments and agencies to resolve code-related issues
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports of code enforcement activities

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
  • Specialized education and/or training in planning, building code/construction trades, public/business administration, law enforcement, or a related field
  • Two years of experience working effectively with the public, preferably including experience in the interpretation and application of codes, laws, rules, and procedures
  • Possession of a California Driver's License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year of appointment, certification as a Certified Code Enforcement Officer (CCEO) issued by the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO)
  • Successful completion of CACEO Module I Academy within one year of appointment
  • Successful completion of PC832 ('citation authority class') within one year of appointment
