Job Summary

The Environmental Technician position is a critical role that supports the air, environmental, and operations teams in ensuring regulatory compliance at both the federal and state level. This position will play a key role in summarizing and delivering air emissions data to the company, driving improvement opportunities, and assisting with other environmental programs within our areas of operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and report operational field data from methane emissions monitoring, Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions, LDAR programs, emissions event reporting, and routine inspections.
  • Schedule and track LDAR inspections, gathering and summarizing associated data.
  • Facilitate the SPCC Program, including requesting and tracking new plans, amendments, 5-year reviews, inspection compliance, and remediation.
  • Prepare and submit various regulatory reports and notices, including annual Tier 2 chemical inventory reports, OOOOb completions notices, EPCRA notices, engine test notices, and others.
  • Assist with environmental clearance reviews for proposed new sites and pre-drill baseline water sampling programs.
  • Support the Gas Certification Program requirements.
  • Assist with engine testing and compliance, scheduling tests, obtaining reports, and other related tasks.
  • Assist with equipment tracking and database management, coordinating periodic inventory requirements.
  • Work with spreadsheets, databases, and data warehouses to streamline available data into a central viewpoint.
  • Attend field EHS audits, inspections, engine testing, LDAR inspections, and other related activities.
  • Assist with sampling requirements, including coordinating H2S sampling, oil and gas samples for extended analysis, and other related tasks.
Requirements
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
  • Skilled in database management with sound analytical and diagnostic skills where information is available but must be analyzed.
  • Ability to proficiently schedule, coordinate, plan, and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Initiative to work independently, but also effective in a team setting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and ability to run queries against data using SQL and Power BI (or similar tools).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental science, engineering, computer science, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with a strong safety and environmental background is preferred.
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data for broad distribution or for use in determining how to focus resources.
  • Experience implementing environmental programs to achieve established goals.
Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office environment and a field environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, iPads, iPhones, laptop computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The job also operates in a field environment with various equipment, dust, debris, and varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. The ability to drive for long periods, walk, and/or stand for long periods, and perform work in all types of weather conditions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload/needs of the company.

Safety Sensitive

This position is not designated as safety sensitive.

Travel

Occasional local and out of town travel is expected for this position.
