Job Summary:

To supervise, direct and maintain the pricing, stocking, facing and rotation of merchandise in the grocery departments of Redner's Markets Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Training: Assist with training of new night crew leaders and all new night crew employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with ordering of merchandise to maintain adequate inventory levels and minimize out of stocks, ensuring that the grocery department is well-stocked and ready for customer needs.
  • Department Presentation: Assist with overall presentation of the grocery department (block & face) in accordance with company policy, ensuring that the department looks its best and is visually appealing to customers.
  • Task Delegation and Monitoring: Delegate and assign tasks to night crew members as directed by store management and work loads, follow up on assignments and monitor productivity and performance of night crew employees.
  • Quality Control: Monitor procedures for pricing and stocking to ensure accuracy, product rotation, and productivity, ensuring that the grocery department is operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Housekeeping and Sanitation: Monitor general housekeeping and sanitation in compliance with company policy, ensuring that the grocery department is clean and safe for customers and employees.
  • Safety and Security: Monitor and comply with all safety policies, observe security standards by staying alert for unusual behavior from customers and or employees, and report any security concerns to management.
  • Employee Relations: Promote and maintain positive employee relations, enforcing policies and procedures as established by the grocery department.
  • Disciplinary Action: Notify store managers and merchandisers of any personnel situations or policy violations requiring disciplinary action.

Supplemental Responsibilities:

  • Merchandise Handling: Assist with unloading of merchandise, breakdown, placing and stocking, and blocking and facing of store.
  • Cleanliness and Presentation: Assist with general cleanup and presentation of the grocery department.

Requirements:

  • Math Skills: Adequate math skills to enable accurate counting of merchandise.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees and management.
  • Physical Abilities: Must have dexterity of hands to enable lifting and stocking of merchandise, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs up to 50% of the time.
  • Top Racking: Must have the ability to retrieve and place merchandise on the top racks in the grocery aisles for proper storage, which may be 20% of the time working in the aisles during the shift.
