Job Summary:

SKLD Whitehall is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Department Director to lead our nursing team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and operating the nursing department to ensure residents receive high-quality care 24/7.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, direct, and supervise the activities of the nursing staff.
• Ensure the nursing department is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Develop, implement, and update department policies and procedures as needed.
• Provide consistent and sufficient staffing for resident needs and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in federal, state, and local agency annual surveys.
• Review deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections with appropriate department heads.
• Operate the nursing department within budgetary guidelines and limitations.
• Complete annual performance reviews of subordinate staff, provide guidance and education, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and protect confidential information.
• Promote and protect resident rights by assisting residents to make informed decisions, treating residents with dignity and respect, and protecting their personal belongings.

Requirements:

• Current Michigan license as a Registered Nurse and graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• CPR certification.
• Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting, with a minimum of three years' experience in nursing administration or a comparable management position.
• Three years' experience as a DON or similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of CMS Federal Regulations and LARA Regulations.
• High degree of leadership, organizational ability, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of long-term care management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
• Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
