Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to join our faculty as an Assistant Professor in Computational/Theoretical or Organic Chemistry. The successful candidate will have a strong research background in either computational/theoretical or organic chemistry, with a preference for biological applications or synthetic/medicinal chemistry, respectively.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an active research agenda, securing external funding, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Teach and advise in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Collaborate with Department of Chemistry faculty in governance, program development, scholarship, and service.
  • Serve as an active member of relevant scholarly societies and/or professional associations.
  • Engage in service and outreach activities at the college, university, regional, state, national, and international levels.
Requirements
  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or in a related discipline.
  • Show promise toward developing a competitively funded research program.
  • Have the capacity to teach undergraduate and graduate courses ranging from entry-level physical or organic chemistry to an area of the candidate's expertise.
  • Be able to successfully mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate master's and doctoral students, in addition to providing professional contributions and service.
  • Have the potential to contribute to the department's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
