Position OverviewThe Shelter Program Supervisor will lead the daily operations of the St. Vincent's Overflow Shelter Program, ensuring adequate staffing and smooth functioning of shelter activities. Responsibilities include overseeing guest check-ins, security measures, bed management, and incident response, all while adhering to established protocols and service strategies.
This role requires fostering creativity and problem-solving among staff and guests, streamlining processes to expedite the transition out of homelessness for those we serve. The Supervisor will actively seek and value input from both guests and staff, embodying ethical and professional standards in service delivery and guest relations.
Providing individualized support to guests while respecting their rights, confidentiality, and dignity is paramount. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee shift operations to effectively meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Collaborate with various departments and community partners to enhance guest services.
- Implement Trauma-Informed Care principles in service delivery.
- Conduct administrative tasks, including data collection, program evaluation, and resource development.
- Contribute to The Road Home's leadership team by addressing staff and guest concerns and improving service quality.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and staff, communicating facility needs to management.
- Identify community resources that best serve our guests' needs.
- Supervise a team of approximately 6 Housing Advocates at the St. Vincent's Winter Overflow Shelter Program.
- Ensure accurate data entry and reporting standards are met.
- Support staff development through coaching and training.
- Lead shift transitions and participate in required meetings.
Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations is preferred, along with at least one year of supervisory experience. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to understanding diverse communities and the principles of housing-first and harm reduction approaches.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift 25 pounds and to remain mobile for extended periods.
