Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in Conventional & CNC Machining of Precision Optical Components; Produces machined parts by setting up, and operating a conventional optical equipment, as well as computer numerical control (CNC) machines - maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, lead and run programs of CNC machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
* Responsible in reviewing final machining and sizing of components as required supporting prototype, pre-production, production programs and rework to include documentations.
* Individual is responsible for set-up and maintaining Nakamura-Tome Centering Machines.
* Set-up and maintain process on CM-2/C-2/C-50 CNC Centering Machines. Center lenses to print specifications. Ability to work a A/B/C shift.
* Maintains specifications by observing in process inspection methods adjusting and reprogramming controls' sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
* Provide technical support for engineering services including process development and review, tooling design and labor estimates.
* Provides training to production employees on key processes and procedures as applicable to their respective production area. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work-related issues.
* Ensures quality of the finished product by continually reinforcing a strong and open working relationship between the quality and production departments.

Requirements and Competencies:

* Competent shop math and algebra skills required.
* Computer programing/CNC skills
* Stand for extended periods of time.
* Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear. The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain) Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. The employee is frequently required to use the computer.

Work Environment:
May involve the use of oils and solvents. Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided) Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such. Safety Glasses are required May require area specific safety training This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles. May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
