Job Title: Threat Assessment Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Threat Assessment Coordinator serves as a vital member of the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) team, working under the direction of the Director of Justice. This role represents OCHN while coordinating between community partners, behavioral health providers, and law enforcement to provide case consultations, service coordination, assessments, referrals, and linkage to resources for individuals identified during Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management case reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a liaison between OCHN, the provider network, law enforcement, community partners, and subjects/persons.
  • Serves as a consultant to engage in behavioral threat assessment and management related activities, including conducting clinical interviews, formulating diagnostic impressions, and making treatment recommendations.
  • Educates and links community partners/police agencies to appropriate mental health/substance use community resources.
  • Educates community organizations and the public on Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management by developing and conducting presentations in the community.
  • Assists in the continued development of OCHN procedures and guidelines.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of data tracking.
  • Creates reports to communicate the status of initiatives and outcomes as requested.
  • Serves as a liaison to establish working relationships with agencies and provider/community partners.
  • Coordinates with internal teams as needed.
  • Stays apprised of Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management modalities, best practices, and changes in state/federal laws related to the intersection of mental health and justice.
  • Responsible for all OCHN Critical Incident Stress Management team-related activities, including facilitation of regular internal meetings, data tracking, timely triage of CISM requests, and coordination of team deployment into the community.
  • Monitors Threat Assessment and CISM trainings.
  • Oversees CISM expansion to include network providers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a mental health field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active State of Michigan licenses, certification, and/or registrations as Psychologist (LLP, LP), Social Worker (LMSW, LLMSW), Counselor (LPC, LLPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Preferred: CAFAS, CANS, LOCUS, and ASAM training.
  • Preferred: Training/experience in Crisis Intervention methods.
  • Preferred: Training/experience in Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management methods.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in providing services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or adults with mental illness and/or persons with substance use/co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience with children with serious emotional disturbance may be considered.
  • Preferred: Psychiatric experience in one or more of the following areas: crisis work, screening, and assessment of children and adults with mental health, substance use, and/or developmental disabilities.

  • Demonstrates high-level proficiency with Word, Excel, database, and other relevant software programs.

  • Demonstrates ability to handle a high volume of relatively complex assignments accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills needed to establish office procedures and maintain files and records.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, while also functioning as a member of a larger team.
  • Ability to engage with individuals, their families, and community partners.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed principles.
  • Knowledge of the OCHN system, providers, eligibility criteria, and community referral resources.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Mental Health Code.

Special Information:

  • This position is grant-funded.
  • Must have available means of transportation to and from OCHN and for required offsite meetings or site visits.
  • Must be available for meetings and events which may occur outside of standard office hours.
  • Work performed primarily within police departments and in various community settings.
  • Hybrid (onsite/remote) work schedule available.
