General Function:

The Custodian is responsible for executing a variety of cleaning tasks aimed at ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere throughout the facility.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Comply with company policies and center guidelines.
  • Arrive for work as scheduled and punctually.
  • Order cleaning supplies as necessary and verify invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the center, both inside and outside.
  • Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, power washing, scrubbing, dusting, and sanitizing.
  • Disinfect surfaces by utilizing appropriate cleaning solutions; ensure cleanliness of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of delivery vehicles and related equipment.
  • Stay informed about new cleaning products and safety protocols, including OSHA regulations.
  • Collect and dispose of waste in a responsible manner.
  • Restock hand cleaners, paper towels, and other disposable items as needed.
  • Ensure janitorial equipment and storage areas are clean and safe.
  • Change light bulbs and monitor plumbing and fixtures for maintenance needs.
  • Assist with minor equipment maintenance and unclog drains as required.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Support other areas of the center as necessary.
  • Engage in additional job-related tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Clean cooling systems and filters for the center.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to address practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions.

Basic arithmetic skills are required.

Must be able to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions and communicate supply needs effectively.


Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; at least one year of custodial experience or related background.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours daily.

Visual acuity is necessary for various tasks, including depth perception and color recognition.

Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:
This role is situated in a fast-paced environment that may involve meeting tight deadlines.

Exposure to dirt, noise, temperature variations, dampness, and cleaning chemicals is possible.


Equipment Utilized:
Scrubber, buffer, mop, hand tools, power tools, vacuum.

Contacts:
Daily interactions with suppliers, employees, and office staff. Occasional communication with regulatory agencies for inspections.
