Job Description

William Vaughan Company is seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join their team in Holland, OH. As a key member of the accounting department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts to senior management.
    • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts to drive business growth and profitability.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis and recommendations to senior management.
    • Collaborate with project managers to forecast project costs and revenue.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Manage audits and liaise with external auditors as needed to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Accounting Operations:
    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
    • Manage payroll processing and related accounting activities.
    • Reconcile bank accounts and financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for business growth and improvement.
    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor the accounting and finance team to ensure high-performance and productivity.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes open communication and teamwork.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, and Payroll.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Advanced Excel skills are necessary.
  • Sage 300 CRE/Timberline accounting software experience is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
