Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director (RN), this is a salaried, exempt role focused on the creation, implementation, and management of programs aimed at preventing and intervening in substance use and abuse. Key Responsibilities:

Uphold and demonstrate the core values and operational principles of Eckerd Connects. Develop, implement, and oversee all initiatives related to substance use prevention and intervention in collaboration with the Mental Health Consultant, Health Services personnel, center physician, and Center Director. Coordinate programs aimed at reducing substance use and ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines. Facilitate training sessions for both staff and students on topics related to substance use and abuse. Provide recommendations to the Center Director regarding medical terminations related to substance misuse in collaboration with relevant health professionals. Serve as a liaison between the center and external resource and referral agencies. Monitor the behavior and progress of participants in the substance use prevention and intervention programs. Maintain confidential records and reports on all referrals and cases. Prepare and submit necessary reports as required. Attend mandatory staff training sessions. Clearly communicate and consistently model appropriate employability skills, including personal accountability and computer proficiency. Ensure accountability of staff, students, and resources while adhering to safety protocols in all responsibilities. Foster a center environment that is free from harassment and intimidation, ensuring a safe space for both staff and students. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Must possess an active, unrestricted substance abuse license or certification that meets state requirements for practice. Preferred: One year of relevant work experience. Preferred: Experience working with youth populations. Preferred: Master’s degree and prior experience with at-risk youth, particularly in a residential context. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of counseling techniques and intervention strategies related to substance use. Ability to design, develop, and implement effective programs addressing substance use and interventions. Proficient in both individual and group counseling methodologies. Strong organizational skills are essential. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to effectively communicate and connect with the youth population. Proficiency in operating office equipment and computer systems is necessary. Must be able to collaborate effectively with team members and maintain positive working relationships with all staff and departments.
