About the Role

Position Overview

  • The Clinical Pastoral Educator is responsible for designing and implementing Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs that align with the Mission and Vision of Eisenhower Health and its Spiritual Care Department. This role involves collaboration with the Spiritual Care team to ensure comprehensive educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the teaching and supervision of CPE programs, conducting assessments of educational needs, and developing effective curricula.
  • Oversees the training of Interns and Residents, ensuring they receive appropriate guidance during their clinical interactions with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Qualifications:

Educational Background

  • Mandatory: Master's degree in theology, divinity, religious studies, or a related discipline.

Certifications

  • Mandatory: Certified Educator by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
  • Preferred: Additional certifications from the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), and/or the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care.

Professional Experience

  • Mandatory: Minimum of three years of experience in providing spiritual care within a healthcare environment, ideally in a hospital setting.
  • Preferred: Experience in developing diverse and inclusive faith-based programs.
