Job Title: Quality Inspector I

At SIG SAUER, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Quality Inspector I to join our team. As a Quality Inspector I, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of ammunition components, focusing on metal metrology measurements, tooling, and production processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and non-routine inspections in the production process using pre-determined methods, including visual, dimensional, mechanical, and functional tests.
  • Use specialized inspection equipment, such as profilometers, LECO hardness testers, optical comparators, and vision systems.
  • Support production by reviewing and explaining inspection data to ensure the integrity of the production process and investigate discrepancies found during part inspection.
  • Document product discrepancies, generate inquiries, perform material movement, and create job routings using the company operating system.
  • Provide data and analysis to the Material Review Board (MRB) to support resolution of issues and notify suppliers and customers of resolution.
  • Implement expedient methods of inspection to maintain product flow in accordance with company directives.
  • Use the corrective action system and follow-up process to resolve deficiencies found during job function for both receiving and in-process inspection.
  • Communicate effectively with supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
  • Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity and satisfy customer needs and expectations.
Requirements:
  • 0-1 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with general Quality Inspection techniques and measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical testing and equipment utilization, including hardness testing and wet saw usage.
  • Drawing/blueprint reading, including knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics, measurement systems analysis (MSA), and statistical process control.
  • Basic knowledge of structured problem-solving and process improvement tools.
  • Establish and maintain a functional knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all quality inspection equipment used in the ammunition manufacturing process.
Working Conditions:

The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. You will be required to stand for 90% of the shift, except for lunch and break periods. Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours. You must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently, and undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions. You must also demonstrate proficient fine motor skills and ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
